FAQ

Q: Are the Multi Purpose Cleaner Refills safe to use on granite counter tops?

A: Yes. They are great for most surfaces except for some varnished wood. Spray test before use on questionable surfaces.

Q: What type of soap do you make?

A: We make cold process soap. Cold process soap is created by mixing oils/fats with lye, resulting in saponification.

Q: Which of your soaps are best for sensitive skin?

A: All of our soaps are on the gentle side. We only use essential oil for fragrance which many sensitive people find tolerable. Our soaps are also plant oil based and contain no added chemicals or preservatives. Our pure olive bars are especially gentle though, and we do have some fragrance free options.

Q: What type of water should I use to mix with the Crystal Clear Concentrates?

A: Any water except for hard water will work. If you have hard water, use distilled water.

Q: The moon soap is so pretty, how will I be able to use it?

A: These soaps make an excellent, long lasting air freshener, especially in small spaces like a bathroom. They are also a long lasting soap and continue showing their design the whole way through. They are not just pretty but also a very good body soap you’ll love to use!

Q: Why is quartz an ingredient in your cleaners?

A: We add quartz essence to our cleaners for enhanced cleansing benefits.

Q: Don’t I need to clean with a disinfectant to kill germs?

A: Soap has been scientifically proven to wipe away germs and bacteria, so no reason for harsh chemicals to get the job done. We have learned disinfectants are among the leading cause of household poisoning cases in the US. We have also consistently seen great results cleaning with soap.

Q: Does Vinegar disinfect surfaces?

A: Vinegar is an effective disinfectant against some food born pathogens such as E. coli, salmonella and listeria monocytogenes. A 2010 study showed 10% acetic acid vinegar kills the influenza virus, however, white distilled vinegar is usually around 5% acetic acid, which we then bring down to around 2.5% acetic acid when diluting with water. That being said, vinegar is still an excellent choice for additional cleaning power in the kitchen and bathroom.

Q: Is vinegar good for cleaning everything?

A: Vinegar is acidic and should not be used on metals, natural stone or certain wood finishes. It can be abrasive and corrosive over time, dulling and scratching surfaces. Vinegar is good at cleaning hard water spots and freshening up but it doesn’t have the same power as soap when it comes to cleaning things like oil, grime and soap scum.

Q: What do you use the soap for?

A: We have a Castile type soap that can be used on everything but your hair. You can use it to clean counters, tubs, dishes, hands and body. Our other soaps are intended body soaps. We offer specialized soaps for dishes, cleaning or shaving. We also offer syndet bars like our shampoo bars and body wash bars that are not actually soap, but made from gentle detergents and pressed into bar form.

Q: Why are there crystals in the candles?

A: The crystal in each candle is an ingredient that infuses into the candle when you burn it. Crystals have spent many years forming on earth and add a subtle grounding energy to your candle when it burns.

Q: Are your cleaners safe for cats?

A: We recommend Herbal Vinegar as a cat safe cleaner because it doesn’t contain essential oils. Some sources say essential oils are safer for cats than synthetic fragrances. Some sources say there are certain oils that are safe for cats and some that are extremely toxic. Cats livers don’t process essential oils the same way that people do. They should never be sprayed with essential oils or be allowed to inhale the essential oils from a diffuser. We recommend keeping your cleaners away from pets and not allowing them to walk on wet floors, as you would with any other cleaner.

Q: What soaps can I use if I am pregnant?

A: Some essential oils are contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women, and we are not doctors. Please always ask your physician what is safe for you!

Q: Can you use soap to wash hair?

A: We do not recommend washing hair with true soap. Soap has a high PH and can make hair dry and even damage it. We do recommend using a shampoo which contains detergent, not soap. Detergents have a lower PH that is closer ours.

Q: Are your candle wicks environmentally friendly?

A: Yes. We use eco friendly wicks and all candles are 100% clean burning soy wax.
