As a professional cleaner I’ve come across so many different cleaning products with labels containing statements ranging from “May Be Fatal” to “All Natural”. The problems I encountered were that
1. I couldn’t find products anywhere that didn’t trigger my sensitivities, asthma and allergies,
2. I knew store bought products would create a huge amount of plastic waste in my business alone and
3. Many of the DIY solutions I could find were either
a) not effective,
b) harmful to surfaces or the environment
c) couldn’t be stored for future use effectively.
I set out to solve these problems with ingredients I knew to be gentle to people and planet, with solutions I knew worked by testing them over time in my cleaning practice, and with packaging I knew could be creatively reused for as long as possible. With all of this in mind along with my love for nature I created The Crystal Forestry Project so I could share what I’ve learned with you!
This is a body of work that I hope will showcase how powerful these plants and minerals can be as cleansers and with objects that serve as gentle daily reminders of our connection to Earth. Everything that leaves the pipes of our homes re-enters our local waterways until we ultimately drink it again. Every little action we take has an impact on the world. We are all individuals moving at our own pace and finding our place in this journey, yet we are all in this together! I am honored to bring a little joy into your home, wherever you are on your journey, with a little something from this project!
